Soon after we first released Flint OS for PC, we received lots of interest for a virtual machine image of Flint OS so that it’d become much easier and painless to get a glimpse of what web-centric OS is like. We are pleased to announce our first VM release today – Flint OS VM for VMWare v0.1!
This release of Flint OS VM is prepared in a .ova file, which is only supported by VMWare desktop clients including VMWare Workstation Player for Windows/Linux and VMWare Fusion for macOS. Some highlights of this release includes:
It’s worth mentioning that our original purpose of producing this VM image is to let you experience Flint OS and the concept of a web-centric OS (if you are new to this) without the need to have gone through hurdles like burning a bootable USB and reboot your machines etc. However, under virtualisation, Flint OS cannot be fully utilised to demonstrate its benefits and advantages especially around performance and security. We strongly recommend you to try Flint OS natively on our supported devices to get the most out of it.
